Making a new world: Karin Jonzen and the World Health Organization in New Delhi and Geneva in the early 1960s

This the first art historical study to focus on Karin Jonzen (née Löwenadler, 1914–98), youngest sculptor contribute Battersea Park ‘Open Air Sculpture Exhibition’ in 1948 and Festival of Britain 1951. Jonzen’s pre-war school training was at Slade School Fine Art (1933–36) City Guilds Kennington (1937), before she won British Rome Scholarship 1939, though her residency thwarted by outbreak war. The article focuses two previously neglected UK commissions that completed for UN’s specialist agency, World Health Organization (WHO), early 1960s new headquarters buildings New Delhi Geneva.
